Ok, so yes I'm going to make an effort at this whole blogging thing. We'll see how it goes; fingers crossed. I really want to be better at documenting things especially with my pregnancy and upcoming daughter. This is going to be a personal blog which will pretty much be of interest to me and my family. At least, I hope my family will be interested. : )
I thought I would start off with a fast forward of my first 22 weeks of pregnancy. It's actually gone really fast. It's gone a lot faster after I stopped puking for sure. I was really sick for about the first 14 weeks. My sweet Shane was a saint. He did whatever he could to make me comfortable and cook what I could keep down.
I had a few random cravings. One of the cravings that I had was pickles. I went to the store and bought a huge jar of pickles thinking, "This will last me a long time!" I took them home and in one sitting ate 6 medium sized pickles. I looked at Shane and said, " Babe! Did you see how many pickles I just ate!?"
"Oh yeah. That's a lot."
...fast forward 30 minutes and we saw those pickles again.
This is true of a lot of my cravings I had that first trimester. I try not to have too many cravings now. One thing that always sounds good, though, has been mexican food. YUM!
A couple more things to note:
Around 18 weeks I started to feel the low flutters that are described as butterflies. I of course thought it couldn't be the baby- it had to be gas.
At 19 weeks we had our sonogram to find out what the baby was. We had a gender unveiling party with our family so we didn't find out at the appointment. The technician had us look away when she was looking at the baby's delicates. We were able to see the baby and how much she had grown. It's so bizarre that she's inside of me growing. It's a little Alien-ish. She would squirm around on the screen. My mom came with us to this appointment and I was glad that she was able to experience that with us.
*Side note- Shane's been with me to every single appointment. What a man.
At 19 weeks 3 days I felt what I knew were kicks.
At 19 weeks 5 days we found out at our gender unveiling party that she is a girl!
Between 20 and 21 weeks we took a trip to Gulf Shores Alabama with another couple, Joel and Kristen Williams.
While on vacation, at 20 weeks 6 days, Shane first felt a kick! That was really an exciting time. "That's so cool!" was his reaction. We snapped a pic right after it happened.
At 21 weeks I started having side cramps on my right side. Apparently it was ligament stretching.
At 22 weeks 6 days I first saw my belly moving. It was so crazy. First a couple kicks then it looked like a wave went about an inch across the right side of my stomach.
Tomorrow starts 23 weeks. Only 17 more weeks to go!
21 Weeks
