Hadley's Turn to be Sick

Since Brooks had been sick, Hadley only thought it fair to get sick, too. Her's wasn't hand, foot, mouth (Thank God!) but congestion and the worst little cough you've ever heard. She was in such a good mood, though, bless her heart, and got over it within a week or two.

Hand Foot Mouth

So it started like any other Sunday morning. I got the kids up and dressed. We ate breakfast and started to head out the door. We had a couple extra minutes so I did an impromptu photo shoot and it was then that I noticed a single 'pimple' on Brooks chin. It's not uncommon for kids to get little pimples from the wetness that collects around their paci so I didn't think much of it. Hadley noticed it to and this was how our conversation went...
Hadley- What's that?
Me- It's a little pimple.
Hadley- It's so cu.... It's not cute.
:)
We went to church as normal, brought food to the fire station to eat lunch and came home for naps. When he woke up from his nap he looked like this:

It was obvious something else was going on. I had Aunt E come look and she thought he could have hand, foot, mouth. He had a couple spots in his diaper area, but none on his hands and feet. And no fever. So we weren't 100% on a diagnosis.
The next morning he woke up looking more like this:

so I took him into the doctor and sure enough... hand, foot, mouth... and an ear infection. Poor little guy! Spots popped up on his hands and feet and continued to get worse around his mouth and diaper area. Just what we needed the week before Christmas. Luckily, he must have had a mild case, because within 3 days his spots began to dissipate. Just in time to get together with friends and family for the holidays!

Big Girl Bed

Well, I put it off as long as I possibly could. A three year old still in a crib just didn't feel right. So we (Shane) finally turned her crib into a "big girl bed". She loves it! She loves that she can climb in and out by herself. And truly, my biggest fear when taking away the crib was that she would climb out all the time, but she's done so well! She's so good about staying put in her bed until I come get her. My sweet big girl. :)

Brooks' First Mini Haircut

Just like every other baby Brooks fell victim to the 'baby mullet'. We kept it on Hadley because it made her hair longer, but it was time for Brooks to lose his. So mama took some action. I'm not a professional, but it turned out pretty good if I do say so myself! But why-oh-why didn't I get a before picture?? Mommyfail for sure!

Looking at Christmas Lights...

Hadley is really into the Christmas lights and blow up characters in people's yards this year. Like REALLY. She'll yell from the back seat when she spies them. This year I let the kids open up their Christmas PJ's a few days early so they could wear them while we took the drive to look for Christmas lights. They looked so cute! We went to the state school and drove around their annual Christmas Lane. The kids loved it. It was a lot of fun to see it through their eyes!

Babymoon #3

One of our favorite vacations we've ever taken- Babymoon #3! We left the kids with grandparents and took a roadtrip to Brokenbow Oklahoma. Shane rented us a cabin and we spent the weekend sleeping in, relaxing, eating out, reading, watching Parks and Rec, seeing two movies in the theater and mainly just spending time together. The weather was a cold, foggy, rainy mixture and it was perfect for a weekend in the cabin! We just put on our comfy's and warmed up some hot chocolate!
This is our Dallas selfie when we stopped at the mall to eat lunch and catch a movie.

Iphone Rewind

This year we continued the Christmas tradition of unwrapping a Christmas book every day until Christmas. The kids love this tradition!

Playing with our new chalk board that Tank and Nonnie got Hadley for her birthday.

 Never again.

It took me awhile, but I finally got Brooks to stop dragging the Christmas presents through the house by their bows.
 LOVE this kid!
 Sweet sleepy head
I heard Brooks giggling so I went in to see what was so funny and apparently its funny when sis tackles you and lays on top of your belly. Who knew!?
